FLASH-COMP is an innovation action and part of the twin green transition call made at the end of last year. Insight Media is one of 14 partners and leads the dissemination, communication and exploitation work.
The project aims to bring novel digital technologies to the liquid resin infusion process, one of the most widely used manufacturing processes using composite materials. By bringing advanced automated controls and in-line defect monitoring and detection to the process, the project will allow industry to cut waste of materials, while also improving efficiencies in the process and the quality of products it produces.
After a welcome dinner the night before and some ice-breaker activities to help settle everyone in, the kick-off meeting consisted of introductions from each of the partners and summaries of the goals of each of the work packages. After a day of lengthy discussions, a group visit to the LORTEK facilities was arranged.
Our role in the project
Insight Media has some ambitious plans to communicate the progress of the project over the next four years, which will include promoting its successful results. We hope to showcase the impact FLASH-COMP’s smart solutions will have on energy and material resources consumption, quality defects, waste generated and operation time at the test sites. We will also be demonstrating how these same solutions can be applied at different industrial set-ups, and the greening capacity they will have.
The project has already been part of a special edition of our Projects Magazine, which focused on the digital transformation of European process industries. The magazine was distributed at Achema22 in Frankfurt.
Meanwhile, we will be developing the project website and other communications materials over the coming weeks, as well as ensuring our extensive database of relevant industry, research and policy contacts are informed about the project and its ambitious aims.
