Projects Magazine: Digitising Europe’s Process Industry

Insight Media has published a special edition of Projects Magazine focusing on EU efforts to transform European process and manufacturing industries by improving their efficiency and competitiveness through digitisation and the power of data.

The new edition is being distributed widely across industry, academia and the SPIRE community across Europe and was available at the ACHEMA 2022 event in Frankfurt in August, where delegates received a copy.

Projects Magazine is produced regularly by research communications agency Insight Media, the UK company involved in several EU funded projects as dissemination and exploitation partner. The magazine provides EU-funded projects with a valuable dissemination platform and access to targeted audiences. Each edition is thematically focused, with this new edition showcasing leading European projects working to tackle the digitisation of process industries in different ways. Each project involved is creating technologies that will enable the realisation of futuristic cognitive factories and how they are implementing this technology at pilot scale for testing.

Insight Media has worked with many of these projects, which are also involved in clustering activities designed to enable researchers focused on complementary areas of industrial digitisation to share ideas and promote common goals. This clustering brings together research that is being funded under the SPIRE 2030 call “Digital technologies for improved performance in cognitive production plants”.

Other projects involved are part of ENGINE, the EuropeaN diGital Innovation Network, an initiative aiming to maximise the impact of European R&D projects working in the domain of digitisation of products and processes, towards more innovative, greener, and resilient EU Industries.

Projects Magazine seeks to bring together academia, industry and policy makers to discuss common and differing approaches to this pressing green challenge for Europe. As such, as well as highlighting the innovative work of research projects, the magazine brings leading voices in the sector from the EU, national governments, industry and associations for comment and insight. This edition includes comment from Commissioner Thierry Breton, A.SPIRE’s Àngels Orduńa and a Q&A with project advisor Giuseppina Lauritano.

“By highlighting technical and technological advances alongside a focus on policy, investment and collaboration, we hope this edition of Projects Magazine provides an invaluable insight into where we are now, what we can achieve and, importantly, how we can insure we are able to deliver on the potential that exists for technology to make our manufacturing and process industries more efficient and greener in the very near future,” says Insight Media managing director William Davis.

“We are delighted that so many projects are involved in this special edition and that it was so well received at ACHEMA22, Europe’s largest industry event,” he concludes.
