ARI was a fascinating project that focused on research impact – what it is, how to achieve it and the role of communication in maximising it.
Working closely with the University of the West of England (UWE), Insight coordinated this UK-funded project that led to an influential publication identifying key components of research impact.
The ARI project involved interviewing hundreds of stakeholders from across the research landscape, including academics, industrial and commercial partners, the public sector, funding organisations, the general public and the media.
Our role was to coordinate these interviews and assess the results of all comments. The final output of the project was an in-depth report that was widely circulated in the UK by UWE, achieving several citations. Outcomes from the research were also utilised in subsequent work done by Insight in other projects.
We have also used the findings to fine-tune our proposals for bespoke dissemination and communications strategies at the proposal stage with the EU and this has ensured we now have a very high success rate.
