Everything is bigger in Texas. So the saying goes, and SC22 in Dallas was no exception. Our team from Insight Media attended the biggest supercomputing convention in the world, which was held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, where 11,830 users and creators of high-performance computers gathered to find out the latest developments in hardware, software and ideas in the field of advance computing.
The theme for this year’s event was “HPC accelerates”. In a rapidly changing world, complex challenges are suddenly arising alongside an urgent demand for answers. By leveraging HPC, skilled minds are able to employ innovative technologies to respond to the call — driven by data, simulating possibilities, and unlocking new solutions. The SC community is unleashing a deeper understanding of our world at an unprecedented pace, and we were able to witness some of the work that has been done by this community over the past year.
PRACE celebrates a powerful legacy
Our reason for being at SC22 was to support our clients PRACE – the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe – which has been providing access to HPC for academic and industrial users in Europe over the last decade. They also provide a wealth of other support activities such as training and networking that has helped foster a vibrant and tight-knit community.
As always, PRACE had a booth at SC22, and this year we had the pleasure of designing it for them. They briefed us with the idea of celebrating the legacy of PRACE, looking back at some of its crowning achievements and showcasing some of the most successful research that it has supported. They were thrilled with how it turned out, and so were we. Take a look at below at some pictures of the booth from SC22.
We had the chance to chat to so many people from different walks of life and careers over the course of the conference, and have come away teeming with new ideas and insights into the world of high-performance computing.
