Client

The University of York’s recently formed School for Business and Society is uniquely placed to lead business and public policy action to tackle complex social and environmental issues and deliver sustainable inclusive growth.

It combines and amplifies strengths in responsible business management, social and public policy, social work and public management, to create an environment that will help develop the ethical leaders of tomorrow.

Brief

Insight Media was approached by the institution to help develop its new brand, run its social media accounts, and publish press releases based on research from the school’s academics

Our work in detail

We partnered with the University of York’s School for Business and Society to develop and deliver a digital communications strategy.

The strategy was developed following analysis of their previous digital output  along with competitor analysis of two other management schools and their digital dissemination activities. The main aim of the strategy was to raise the profile of the institution and its variety of research activities through digital communications and media engagement, thus increasing its impact.

As such, the strategy focused on:

  • Defining target audiences
  • Developing targeted content
  • Increasing active dialogue between the school and its target audiences
  • Maximising engagement through a variety of digital channels
  • Increasing opportunities for researchers and school staff to speak at events and join consortia as coordinators and project partners.

The overarching objective of these activities was to increase awareness of SBS amongst the mass media, specialist and non-specialist media outlets, politicians, academics and policy makers at local, regional and national level, as well as in industry (entrepreneurs, investors, SMEs and large industry).

Over the two years that we worked with the school, we successfully built up large followings on their social media accounts, had stories based on their research published in national press outlets multiple times, and developed an excellent working relationship with many of their academics to help them promote their work in any way we could.
