Back in October, Insight sent its most experienced editorial team to Gdańsk in Poland to cover the European Week of Active and Healthy Ageing, a celebration of ideas and products focused on ensuring we all live active and healthy lives for longer into old age with the help of technology.
EWAHA22 was organised by the AAL Programme and the Fundacja Gdańska and brought together Europe’s active ageing community, a collection of dedicated researchers, scientists, policy makers, care organisations and older people, for three days of discussion, debate and the sharing of ideas. And we were there to cover it all for this new report.
As well as a series of plenary sessions and keynote addresses, the event hosted a programme of fascinating workshops through which AAL stakeholders were able to share ideas ranging from the technical through to the societal aspects of ageing as well as discuss the best way to ensure effective solutions reach the market.
Insight was there to listen in (although we did host our own workshop on communicating research), talk to delegates and reflect with them on 14 years of similar events to discover what lessons we have all learnt over the years and how we best make progress into the future.
AAL comes to an end now, but the need to develop the solutions that make life in old age even better is never-ending. We hope that this final Executive Summary for an AAL event provides a fascinating reflection on all the programme has achieved as well as a valuable guide to what we should now be focusing on when it comes to active and healthy ageing in the future.
Enjoy reading the executive summary for EWAHA22.
