From Brussels to Amsterdam: Reflecting on a dynamic month for Insight Media

Insight Media is reunited at its Bristol HQ after a busy few weeks that saw several staff travelling the EU to attend events and various project meetings.

This May has been a fantastically busy one for our team at Insight Media, travelling between meetings and events across Europe, meeting up with old colleagues and making connections with new ones. Our first port of call was the dynamic CBE JU Info Day in Brussels, which Insight attended to meet several new and existing partners to discuss potential collaboration opportunities for the next call. It was a very productive day organised brilliantly by the CBE JU, which gave delegates ample opportunity to network, while also allowing time to discuss the various topics in the call in valuable plenary sessions.

Insight was certainly in demand with our unique brand of dissemination, communication and exploitation strategies, together with our wide experience in this exciting and fast-moving sector, attracting a lot of interest. We are very hopeful that the resulting opportunities will lead to successful proposals and plenty of project work over the coming years.

It was then on to the EFFRA Manufacturing Partnership Days, focused on the future of Europe’s manufacturing industry and also in Brussels, which we attended with multiple Insight hats on.

First, we were there to launch our latest edition of Projects Magazine, which we’d produced in partnership with EFFRA to highlight some of the great work it has funded to help transform Europe’s manufacturing landscape with digital technologies such as AI, digital twins and big data. The magazine proved a big hit with delegates and speakers, who all received a copy.

Second, we were there to represent one of our own projects working in this important sector and present its work to date. FLASH-COMP is developing a fast and reliable quality control solution that uses AI to help identify and remove defects during composite manufacturing processes and we were delighted with the reception it received and the positive conversations we had about possible synergies with other projects.

And then, of course, we were there to network and create further opportunities to leverage our experience in the sector and work with others looking to start new projects. Once again, we were very encouraged with the reception we received to our ideas for innovative new proposals, and we look forward to working with many of you soon.

After EFFRA, it was a quick train ride north to work in our Amsterdam office and host two project meetings for proposals we are working on for projects focused on the bioeconomy. This is a very exciting time for this sector and we are delighted to be a part of helping to maintain such a positive energy for development and innovation that will surely help transform Europe’s much-needed transition to a greener economy over the coming years.

Finally, it was back on the train and back to Brussels for a project review meeting for FLASH-COMP. Always a nervous time for any project, when the project officer and reviewers grill partners about progress and whether or not the work is on track to deliver, but we gained the positive approval needed and received some very valuable advice for how to make sure we build on the strong foundation we have put in place.

Overall, this has been a very busy time for many of us here at Insight, but this is why we love what we do so much. We meet amazing people, with brilliant minds and innovative ideas and we hope that by working with them we will help make a real difference to Europe’s economy, our environment and ultimately, to all our lives.

To this end, our work continues at our Bristol HQ as we deliver for our projects, universities, research groups and other organisations to ensure their work is seen by the right people and makes a real difference.
